Vernal Equinox

The Spring Equinox

Around the world in ancient times the Spring Equinox was celebrated as a time of rebirth, abundance, and balance. In the northern hemisphere the spring equinox marks the first day of spring. It is the time when the sun crosses the celestial equator from south to north, and we celebrate the first day of spring.

The equinox is also a day of equilibrium, marking a moment of equal length of day and night hours. This moment calls for us to acknowledge this important cycle in our lives. For we cannot live in only light or darkness, we need both periods of action and vigor, and periods of contemplation and rest to maintain balance and health of mind, body and spirit.

As mother earth is gently awakening from her winter slumber, and seeds and animals begin to stir. It is time for us to softly release the deep introspection of winter. Have we decided what truly matters to us at this moment? Have we released thoughts and patterns that hinder our growth? Before we surrender to the pull of the Sun and open to the vibrant dance of energies, let's take a moment to celebrate the active energy of light and the still energy of the dark. Allowing ourselves to notice if we are creating enough balance in our lives of these powerful energies.
